What is a mentor? A mentor is a school leader that takes on the role of sharing rich experiences and skillset with others (Cheliotes & Reilly, 2018). Mentors understand that educators are lifelong learners. Mentors encourage reflection on teaching strategies and approaches for professional growth.

Reflective feedback
Strategy for Self-DirectionReflective feedback allows adult learners to become self-directed and reflective because the feedback empowers learners to grow based off constructive feedback to improve using their areas of strength and new approaches (Cheliotes & Reilly, 2018).
Support of Ongoing Development
Reflective feedback supports ongoing development because it drives learning. Our brains are active in individuals who are learning and receive feedback than those who don’t receive feedback (Cheliotes & Reilly, 2018). Instructional coaching can be implemented at the end of each observation to allow the learner to grow from input that was provided, create an action plan with goals, and support. It prepares adult learners to answer reflective questions to understand their practices and identify areas and apply new approaches strategically (Cheliotes & Reilly, 2018).
Relationship Between Motivation and Self-Efficacy Reflective feedback promotes motivation and self-efficacy in ongoing development because learners hold experiences that expand after instructional coaches hold meaningful conversations that increase confidence (Cheliotes & Reilly, 2018).
Modeling
Strategy for Self-Direction
Modeling strategy will assist adult learners in becoming increasingly self-directed by transferring acquired skills from modeling and professional development sessions. It provides learners with the experience of becoming autonomous to take the initiative to reach out to a mentor or observe a colleague to be an ongoing learner.
Support of Ongoing Development
Modeling each strategy supports the ongoing development of adult learners because it allows learners to grow from the instructional coaching strategies based on the learning goal. The modeling strategy should be implemented through one or more observations that allow the coach to collect student samples for further discussion (Fogarty & Pete, 2017). This helps coaches work with adult learners to develop goals that target the areas of need.
Relationship Between Motivation and Self-Efficacy Modeling promotes the relationship between motivation and self-efficacy in the ongoing development of learners by providing adult learners with ways to deliver effective instructional approaches through best practices and resources (Williams, 2023). It paves the way for the learners to implement the skillset to increase student achievement.
Building rapport and trust
Support of Ongoing Development
Building rapport and trust supports the ongoing development of adult learners because it keeps learners open to collaborating, sharing ideas, and building community. Building rapport and trust should be offered through grade-level collaboration, committees, and conferences to work toward offering professional feedback.
Strategy for Self-DirectionBuilding rapport and trust will open possibilities for adult learners to become increasingly self-directed by having a support system. This can allow learners to reflect on their practices and reach out to colleagues who have a strong support system.
Relationship Between Motivation and Self-Efficacy Building rapport and trust promotes relationships between motivation and self-efficacy through coaching conversations. Adult learners can use these bridges that have been created to take leadership to hold effective conversations that trickle into the school learning community (Cheliotes & Reilly, 2018). It empowers adult learners to provide a helping hand to other learners.
