Personal Development Plan - Brief explanation
A digital resume (your Personal Development Plan):
- Allows you to track and show actual evidence of your strengths, achievements, and passions versus just simply writing about them.
- Gives you an edge and can help you stand out compared to other candidates.
- Helps you tell your learning and employment journey so far.
- Provides a more complete picture of who you are.
- Gives an opportunity to showcase best work and works in progress.

Personal Development Plan - Creation advice
When you create your PDP, it is important that it is detailed enough so that it actually provides a useful plan of action. You also need to refer back to your PDP regularly to track whether you are on course to achieve your aims, and whether you have achieved your goals. Your PDP is not set in stone, and should be thought of as a flexible guide that you can adapt when the need arises.
- What skills do you think you need to develop?
- What areas of your studies do you need to improve?
- Are there wider aims and goals in your personal life that you want to achieve?
- You might have some short-term goals, and you might have some longer-term goals.

Personal Development Plan - Setting goals
You can increase your chances of success by setting SMART goals.SMART goals are designed in a way that provides a structure with guidelines, and a way of defining and measuring success. We call them SMARTgoals because each letter in SMART stands for one aspect of the goal that ensure it's:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable / Attainable / Actionable
- Relevant / Realistic / Relatable
- Time-bound

Date & Progress: Reflection:
My long term vision is to be able to find a job after graduation, in the times I would like to build up my employability skills.
I want to build my leadership skills and teamworking ability.
My goal is to practice my AES writing skills, while remembering to reference my work, and proof reading before submission.
The reason why I have chosen this goal is because I need to add references into my work and to also proof read my work before submission to check any spelling mistakes.
The barrier that I face is that I forget to reference my work that I research and I submit my work an hour or two before the deadline.
I need to remember to reference my work, and proof read my work before the deadline, before submission I can ask for some feedback on what I could improve.
