Recognizing Global Racism: A Worldwide Issue

Good day everyone, today we'll delve into an important global issue that goes beyond borders and affects people from various backgrounds. Our topic is "Recognizing Global Racism: A Worldwide Issue." Racism is not limited to one country or region, and it's essential to understand its impact on different communities around the world. Racism can start in one place but spread across borders, affecting how different races interact on a wider scale (Essex, R., Markowski, M., & Miller, D., 2022).

Essex, R., Markowski, M., & Miller, D. (2022). Structural injustice and dismantling racism in health and healthcare. Nursing Inquiry, 29(1), e12441. Hoskin, M. N. (2022, March 29). Why Racism Should Be Seen as a Global Issue. Forbes. https://www.forbes.com/sites/maiahoskin/2022/03/29/why-racism-should-be-seen-as-a-global-issue/?sh=f2d7a455eef6 Nieto, S., & Bode, P. (2017). Affirming diversity (7th ed.). Pearson Education.

To better comprehend this issue, we'll engage in a collaborative activity. We'll divide into groups and each group will research a specific country where racism has been prevalent. You'll explore instances of racial bias, discrimination, and related challenges faced by marginalized groups in those countries.

Group Presentation: Each group will present their findings, highlighting key instances of racism, impact on communities, and ongoing challenges. Presentations should also include suggestions for addressing these issues. Reflection Paper: Individually, you'll write a reflection paper discussing what you've learned about global racism, its impact, and potential ways to combat it. This paper should be a thoughtful analysis of the issue based on your research.

Google Earth: Use Google Earth to virtually travel to the countries under consideration. Explore their cultures, histories, and racial dynamics. Newsela: Access articles on Newsela that discuss recent incidents related to racism in different countries. Analyze the stories and identify common patterns. Padlet: Collaboratively create a Padlet board where each group can share their findings. Use images, videos, and text to present the information you've gathered.
