The muscular system

There are 600 total muscles in the human body.

Cardiac muscle

Skeletal muscle

Smooth muscle

How bones and muscles work to produce movement

Skeletal muscles are usually attached to the bone by tendons. When your brain tells a muscle to contract, it shortens, pulling one bone towards another across a joint. Muscles work in pairs — when one shortens, a corresponding muscle lengthens

Example

Workshop / Homework

Draw the movement of lowering and lifting the leg, then indicate which muscles are involved and how they work.
