The Preppy look was originally established in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. The aesthetic has evolved since then, with sub-categories such as dark academia, southern prep and more.
Emo
Senior Rianna Rivera and sophomore Mia Monroy-Robles have both taken up this bold aesthetic.
"I love how much confidence it portrays," Rianna said. "There's nothing that attracts me more than this 'vampire like' aesthetic."
NME History behinds Emo
The term "Emo" goes back to the early ’80s circulating around the idea of recognizing our inner emotions. The Emo aesthetic brings out darker feelings to the surface for everyone to see.
Streetwear
Initially disliking the aesthetic, juniors David Javalera and Liam Kent have come to appreciate the self-expression offered by baggy streetwear clothing..
"My style is pretty laid back," David said. "That's the point to look good while being comfy."
