Objetives
Bilingual education and interculturality are essential in a societyheterogeneous and plural to achieve learning in the mother tongue and in a second language.
Bilingual education as instrumentsrevolutionary and, therefore, essential for any society, allows the appropriation of theattitudes, knowledge and skills, by two linguistic routes, and this one, we leads to respect for the identity of the groups involved.

What did I learn about bilingualism or being bilingual?
What kind of bilingual am I?
From the readings and classroom interactions, we were able to highlight the following:
Being bilingual refers to more than just a person who can fluently speak two languages and seamlessly switch between them when needed. It would not be fair to solely label individuals like this with the term "bilingual." This term is broader and encompasses all those who can achieve effective communication in these two languages. This can be achieved through translanguage usage, if necessary, without the need to consistently use the same code. Instead, it involves utilizing an individual's diverse linguistic repertoire. Being bilingual implies developing language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in both languages. This often leads to an individual not having the same level of linguistic proficiency in one language as they do in the other.
Regarding bilingualism, we can say that this term refers to the ability to speak and understand two languages. It can be approached from two perspectives, which are an individual perspective and a societal perspective. The individual perspective refers to a person's ability to use two languages, while the societal perspective deals with the use of two or more languages within a group or community. Additionally, it is worth noting that bilingualism is influenced by social and cultural contexts, as individuals may use different languages in different domains of their lives.
As for the type of bilinguals we are, since the categories are not mutually exclusive, we believe we can fall into the category of sequential bilinguals and dominant bilinguals. This due to the fact that we initially acquired one language and gradually introduced a second language (L2) into our lives as it was taught in school. Therefore, we could be considered sequential bilinguals. However, we are also dominant bilinguals because we all have a higher level of proficiency in Spanish (L1) than in English (L2). This is mainly due to living in a country where using L2 outside of academic settings is uncommon, leading us to rely more on our L1.
Furthermore, we also feel that we might qualify as passive bilinguals and receptive bilinguals. This because there have been moments in our lives where we understood what was being said to us in English but struggled to construct a coherent response, which aligns with the characteristics of passive bilinguals. Additionally, we have been receptive bilinguals during our English courses throughout our lives, comprehending what our instructors were saying and asking, but facing challenges when it came to producing written or spoken responses.

Bilingual education is a term that refers to the teaching of academic content in two languages, in a mother tongue and a second language. Variable amounts of each language are used depending on the outcome objective of the model.
