June 5 17 hours

The first week consisted of training for 3 days and my first shift. During the training days, I spent the time learning the drinks and familiarizing myself with the routine. My first actual shift had 4 other people working which was very helpful since I still had not memorized the entire menu. The first hour was mostly restocking and cleaning. I learned how to use the register that day as well since it looked very complicated. During the rush hour was when I had completely memorized all the drinks with the help of my co-workers and we closed in 15 minutes.

June 11 10 hours

I worked in the back kitchen cutting fruit for half of the shift to prepare for new orders then rotated to the front to help out as more people came in. I have never cut as many mangoes as I did that day. Right before closing time, many customers came in so we closed later than usual. That delayed us 20 minutes and was very annoying. The next day it wasn't very busy and there was not much else to do other than clean.

It was slow in the beginning but as time went on more people came in. Two families came in and ordered many drinks at the same time and it was only two of us in the front kitchen so it took a while to get everything out. This occurance made me more considerate of time and how I could have went about it more efficiently: rather than making one drink at a time I should have doubled the measurements to make two at a time.

June 25 11 Hours

As shift manager, I had to report to my employers on any shipments that came in or any problems occuring during the shift. On Sunday the ice machine was not working, we ran out of hand soap and avocadoes, and the slicer was broken. On Thursday there was nothing significant to report. Otherwise, the shifts were normal for the most part and went by slowly.

July 16 16 hrs

I worked three shifts this week after coming back from a vacation. There were new caps for the drinks and I noticed that they are very flimsy. I broke several of them trying to put them on the cups. Sonia came in and stayed for a while so I was extra careful with the caps. She appointed us roles when it became slow and that was probably the most cleaning I had to do in a shift. I was slightly irritated when I noticed that I was doing the most work so I told the others what they should do to contribute.

July 23 11 hrs

As soon as I walked in I had to work right away as there was a line. There was a new sugar machine and I had to make some adjustments to it since it is different from the old one. When it got slower, we cleaned the store and Marina didn't know how to mop so I had to show her. Later in the shift there was a lady dressed up as some cartoon character which I found very strange as Halloween is in October. On Sunday, nothing unusual happened and it was a normal shift.

July 30 11 hrs

Most of the shift for me was cleaning and restocking. There were customers that came in here and there but me and my co-worker were organizing the new items that came into the storage room for some time. I rotated to the back kitchen and cut fruit since people kept ordering the same drinks. I rotated back to the front and made the drinks and operated the register. We were ready to close so Phuri locked the door but people kept entering because he left it slightly opened so we closed late all because of his carelessness. This taught me to be more attentive and point out others mistakes to help them improve as well as myself.
