Kenya - Katito Living Lab

The Katito SESA living lab is a pilot peri-urban demonstration action living lab located in Kisumu County. The Katito SESA hub is equipped with an innovative and self-sustaining solar energy system. The hub is equipped with highly efficient ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) arrays that capture solar energy. Furthermore, the system includes dedicated charging stations specifically designed to charge and provide power for a variety of productive use of solar energy use case appliances.

Ghana Living Lab

The living activities in Ghana will explore clean cooking through the development of bioethanol fuel and stoves, and solar and recycled batteries for off-grid applications.The actions will involve setting up bioethanol fuel and stoves or cooking, solar and recycle batteries for solar off-grid applications, and Info-Spots in four public schools. The activities are being undertaken in collaboration with NASTECH, and Econoxus Ventures.

Malawi Living Lab

The living lab will be implemented in Mchinji district, in the Central Region of Malawi in a rural context. To help the country transition to clean energy, the living lab is going to design and adapt, an improved cooking stove called MIG BioCooker. This stove will be using briquettes made from solid waste biomass that is not sourced from forest reserves.

The demonstration implementation plan is developed for the two Namibian sites, Donkerbos and Otijsa. This initiative aims to provide 14 young girls from the association with access to electric motorcycles that will facilitate their transportation to the university using a clean and sustainable solution.

This living lab is located in Alicedale, Eastern Cape. It has a strong focus on renewable energy and creating entrepreneurship opportunities. The Solar hub comprises solar panels to provide renewable energy, internet access, and electric vehicles suited for rural conditions to provide local transportation.
