Punk rock emerged as a reaction against the perceived excesses of psychedelic and progressive rock. This was a stripped-down style of music that emphasized simplicity and raw energy (The Ramones, The Sex Pistols).

Even in the 21st century, the most successful acts had the same spirit as they´ve in the '60´s . Linkin Park fuses hip-hop and metal, while 3 Doors Down emulates hard-rock traditions of the past while providing a contemporary spin.

Others subgenres come out like grunge, which was a dark and heavy style of music that emerged from the Seattle underground scene. (Nirvana, Soundgarden..)

There was the "British invasion", that´s the influx of British rock bands into the USA, some bands were The Beatles and The Rolling Stone. And other important devlopment was the rise of psychedelic rock like Pink Floyd
