Move the Swap file

  • Click Windows button and search “Sysdm.cpl”
  • Login with Admin Account
  • Click “Advanced”
  • Under “Performance”, Click “Settings”
  • Click “Advanced”
  • Click “Change”
  • Deactivate “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives”
  • Select “No paging File”
  • Click “Set”
  • Click on D: Drive
  • Select “System managed size”
  • Click “OK” 3 times
  • Reboot

OneDrive sync from C:\ to D:\

  • Right-click OneDrive Icon in System Tray
  • Click Settings
  • Click Account
  • Click Choose Folder for each entry
  • Check at the bottom for Sync Path
  • If it starts with “C:\”, it should be moved
  • Click “Stop Sync”
  • Unlink this PC
  • Navigate to the Folder on C:\ and copy & paste the synced Ondrive Data Folder to D:\

Outlook Archive from C:\ to D:\

Outlook Archive Default Location: C:\Users\%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook Outlook archive files are in .pst format, and they are mostly from previously migrated notes archive files using Quest SSDM Migration Tool

  • Close Outlook client
  • Copy archive file to D:\ location and then delete the original file and delete it in the recycle bin
  • Note: Instead of moving the .pst files directly, a backup is necessary in case there is unwarranted circumstances.
  • Open Outlook and will be prompted a wearning
  • Click ‘OK’ and locate archive file stored in D:\ drive

Disk Cleanup Tool

  • Click Windows button and search “Disk Cleanup”
  • Run Disk Clean Up as ADMIN
  • Select evrything
  • Click Clean Up system Files
  • Let it run
  • Click OK

Deactivate the Hibernate Mode

  • Click Windows button and search “cmd”
  • Click “Run as Administrator”
  • Login with Admin Account
  • Type "powercfg /hibernate off“ without “”
  • Press Enter
  • Reboot

Cleaning Desktop, Documents & Downloads Folder

Some User have tons of Data stored in:

  • C:\Users\UIDXXXX\Desktop
  • C:\Users\UIDXXXX\Documents
  • C:\Users\UIDXXXX\Downloads
Depending on the time available and user either
  • Tell the user or help the user to clean those folders (deleting and moving Data to D:\)
Empty the Recycle Bin (Don´t forget to tell the user )

Delete Temporary files

  • Delete contents of:
  • "C:\Windows\Temp”
  • "C:\Users\UIDXXX\AppData\Local\Temp“
  • Some files in there can not be deleted because they are in use, just ignore those files
  • Data in there is mainly needed when windows crashes to restore the session so, if there is no crash happening until the next reboot, everything is fine
  • Empty the Recycle Bin (Don´t forget to tell the user )

Delete User Profiles

Click Windows button and search “Sysdm.cpl” Login with Admin Account Click “Advanced” Under “User Profiles”, Click “Settings” Ask the user, which profiles are not needed anymore Select those profiles and click “Delete” Click “OK” 2 times Reboot
