1. WHAT IS MEMORY?
1. WHAT IS MEMORY?
-BRITANNICA.COM
The basic pattern of remembering consists of attention to an event followed by the representation of that event in the brain. Repeated attention, or practice, results in a cumulative effect on memory (...). Learning could not occur without the function of memory. So-called intelligent behaviour demands memory, remembering being prerequisite to reasoning.
German psychologist Hermann Ebbinghaus wanted to understand more about why we forget things and how to prevent it. His research produced the Forgetting Curve – a visual representation of the way that learned information fades over time

3. WHAT AFFECTS MEMORY?
5. GOOD NEWS!!! What is forgotten is still in your memory
4. FEELINGS : How you feel affects how well you remember.

1. TIME : Memories weaken over time
STOP MASSED LEARNING! ADOPT SPACED LEARNING!
4. REPETITION IS THE KEY!
INCREASING the time period between each repetition is essential.
SLEEPING between each repetition reinforces memorisation
CHOOSING THE RIGHT MOMENTS to repeat makes memorisation easier
7 = MAGIC NUMBEROn average, 7 repetitions are required
= “repackaging” the information, a process that helps the brain to store the information and find it again when needed. It is based on creating associations with something that is easy to remember :images, emotions, patterns, or rhymes to help us absorb the information more efficiently.
