Major Characteristics
Major characteristics are children learning through their environment. Vygotsky emphasized learning through parents, peers, and their culture(Cherry, 2022).
How Learning Occurs
Learning occurs through Vygotsky's Zone of Proximal Development. Scaffolding occurs to help guide learners to eventually be able to do and understand information(Cherry, 2022).
Types of learning
The different types of learning involve teacher planned, scaffolding, learning through play and socialization, and hints and prompts(Cherry, 2022).
Role of Memory
The role of memory can differ by culture. Different culture use different strategies for children to recall information(Cherry, 2022).
Major Theorist
Lev Vygotsky is a major theorist associated with the Sociocultural Learning Theory

Major Characteristics
Connectivism is based on peer to peer interactions, exchanging knowledge, and the use of technology.(IWestern Govenors University, 2021).
How Learning Occurs
Learning occurs through collaboration among students, looking up information on an online search engine, and the critical thinking process(Western Governors University, 2021).
Types of learning
Connectivism embraces the use of collaboration in learning, student-centered learning, and diverse learning. Students can use technology to find information and work together to use it(Western Govenors University, 2021)
Role of Memory
Connections are made through different sources of learning. As a learner is exposed to new information, they make connections to recall the information later(Western Governors University, 2021).
Major Theorist
Connectivism is a newer theory from 2005 introduced by George Siemens.
Learning Theory
Connectivism
Malcolm Knowles is the developer of the Adult Learning Theory.
Major Characteristics
Adult Learning Theory is how adult learning differs from how a child learns. Self-concept, adult learner experience, readiness to learn, orientation to learning, and motivation to learn are 5 key assumptions to the theory(O'Neill, 2022).
How Learning Occurs
Learning occurs when adult learners are involved in the learning process, connect to past experiences, and can connect ways to use the new information immediately(O'Neill, 2022).
Types of learning
Types include a more independent learning process, taking from experiences, and direct relation to task or career(O'Neill, 2022).
Role of Memory
Adults must solve problems and use reasoning in order to make connections and recall information(O'Neill, 2022).
