groups and courses

Courses are for instruction; groups are for collaboration. Your students will have courses, you decide when to publish and enable assignments. In Groups you collaborate with your team. You copy your material from groups to your sandbox or student courses.

EDPUZZLE AND SCHOOLOGY

Edpuzzle is a wonderful tool, and it can be assigne DIRECTLY FROM SCHOOLOGY!!!! You can assign, play it live and take grades!!!! You need to assign the Schoology class to edpuzzle, it is a one-time-thing-to-do when you get your class. Watch the video for step by step instructions

Please note that this is not a video on HOW TO DO EDPUZZLE, here you are connecting your courses in SGY to a class in Edpuzzle.

+info

schoology and hac / grading....

SGY can export grades to HAC. You decide which grades you want to be exported. You must have the gradebook set up in both: SGY and HAC To export from SGY to HAC the assignment, the "sync to sys" must be enable The OFFICIAL grades are located in HAC.

due dates in schoology

Assignments with a DUE DATE will show on the right side of the dashboard. The students can ONLY see the assigned IF THE ASSIGNMENT IS PUBLISHED. If the assignment is DISABLE AND PUBLISHED, the students can see it on their dashboard, but they can NOT access it until it is ENABLED If the assignment is in paper, you can still assign in SGY. Place the assignment as "disable", with a due date for a reminder for the student. You can enter the grade in SGY and then sync to HAC. I like to write "TURN IN IN PAPER" in the title of the assignment

enable/disable publish/unpublish

PUBLISH/UNPUBLISH

ENABLE/DISABLE

Enable: the assignment can be accessed by the studentDISABLE: The student does not have access. I like to ENABLE the assignment on the day that is planned. You can also enable only during certain days andor times

You can place in your courses all your material and only publish the day or the week. I recommend publish per week, and enable on the day of the assignment.

GOOGLE SLIDES/POWER POINT: You can embed your slides, but it will show the HIDDEN SLIDES OPTION: PUBLISH TO THE WEB AND USE THE PRESENTATION LINK, (NOT THE EMBED CODE). Then add it to SGY as a Link

assignments / assessment

ASSIGNMENT

TEST

ASSESSMENT

Student receives instructions, and need to turn in a document online (google, microsoft, kami) It can be send as a "google, microsoft or kami assigment" or give a link to create a copyIt

Series of questions: true/false, multiple choice, matching, short answer...

Questions like in the test but with more options: upload files, labeling, highlight...

LOCK DOWN BROWSER

If an assessment is in LOCKDOWN BROWSER, in theory the students can NOT OPEN another tab. It is meant to prevent cheating. If they click a key to switch to another tab, the system will shut down. You need to set up the LOCKDOWN BROWSER in every class, even though they may be on the same cluster. Ask your team how to do this!
