• En anglais on utilise les modaux pour exprimer la probabilité: must (90% de chances), may (50%), can (30%), might (1%)

ex: It may rain tomorrow.

• Pour exprimer une probabilité dans le passé (il y a des chances que cela se soit passé), on ajoute HAVE + PARTICIPE PASSE du verbe au modal

ex: It may have rained in 1993

• Les deux plus courants sont: MUST HAVE+PARTICIPE PASSE (c'est sûr) et CAN'T HAVE+PARTICIPE PASSE (c'est impossible

ex: Miss Labrue can't have been blonde!
