Daily life .1.
Appon arival new soliders are put through military disciline:- learn how to adhere to code of conduct physical conditioning:- soilders were expepcted to train and exercise Drill and Formations:-Soilderes we taught marching patterns and lernt how to respond to comands quickley Weapon Handeling:- Soilders were taught how to handle all sorts of newley developed weapons. Marksmanship:- This helpes soildes engae with enimes at diffrent distances and improve there aim. Tactical Training:-soilders earn the how to engage with the enime and take cover in battle Bayonet Training:-close combat training Gas war fair traing;-As biochemical war fair grew more prevailent, soilders began trainig for signs of gas attacks. Trench Warfare Techniques;- Training to navagate around trenches, and how to attack on no mans land Communication:- Soldiers learn how to effectivly communicate with a unit, often using visual signals or simple. hand gestures. First aid:-Basic aid traning was provided so they cold send emediate aid to there comrads Mental Conditionging:- This aimed to prepair soilderes mentally for the challenges of war. Live Fire-Exercises:- soilders participated in live fire extersises where they fire wepons in realistic combat senarios. Night trainig:- soilders were trained to operate at night, witch was critical for conducting surprise attacks.

Rotation!LIfe in the trenches was an ongoing cycle . The front lines, were the most stressfull are to be, since they constantally at risk of attack. The front line was bombarded with artillary and mentally and physically to tiering to be on due to the constan combat. so to prevent physical and mental exhaustion they allowed rotations Support Trenches:- Support trenches were normally placed behind The front line. Although support trenches were still in range of enemy artillery attacks, but it provided a safer environment than the front lines, soldiers in the support trenches, Communicated 2 soldiers in front line through Communication lines. Reserve areas these were placed behind the support and First trenches these were the Lake rest area for soldiers. They had a chance to recover and relieve stress and fatigue from the front line. They could get some rest here and receive medical attention.
Pay and leave
Pay!Regular privets :- 1 shilling (5 pence) Reservatist:-3 shillings (17.5 pence) Leave(Holiday) There was no leaves handed out during the first battle Ypres (November 1914) After 3 months they eventually started to hand out leaves..10 days including travelling.. eventually solider had around a week of the battle per year although the duration varies
Nutrition
The solider in the first wws Diane mainly consisted of basic foods, but filling. Each soldier could expect around 4,000 calories a day, with tinned rations and hard biscuits staples once again. But their diet also included vegetables, bread and jam, and boiled plum puddings. This was all washed down by copious amounts of tea.The different trenches had a different items to eat Each trench Diet varied. As a western frank had more poor quality rations on both sides due to the constant fighting. The eastern front had more f ood available As the vastness of the russian side often had short tickets due to the russian revolution. The Italian front was. Difficult to transport for too. Due to the terrain they were fighting on.
Main items 'hardtaack' a type of long lasting hared craker 'canned meat and vegg' often proviede a source of protine and nutrientce 'trench stew' a heated stwe of canned vegge and canned meat and a few soup mixes 'jam preserves' a mix of jams aand jellies were incluede to add flavour and protiens 'chees' chees could be stored wthout a refrigeration and little care 'tea;- hot bevrages often helped regulatre body temp and hyrate the body altho the conditions of the drink varried '

oug outThe shelters varried from the diffrent trenches you were placed in. Frontline Trenches ;- the front line did't have much cover as it was at constant risk od attack, but when it did it mostley had under developed dugots and traverses,. Support Trenches ;- suppor trenches mostley had more developed dug outs and they were farther away from enimey fire comunication trences ;-theas trenches were not inteded for long perids of time so there was not much cover Reserv trenches;- Solderes were stationed here to relax so they had better living conditions. theas shelters had waslls and celings made with wood and sand bags

No man's land= the area land of between the opposing trenches. theas land masses had barbed wire and craters Trench foot :-a painful condition of the feet caused by long immersion in cold water or mud and marked by blackening and death of surface tissue. Stand down :-permission given to soldiers to leave their defensive positions when an attack by the enemy is deemed unlikely. Stand to:-stand ready for an attack, especially one before dawn or after dark. Over the top;- an almost death sentennce for front line soilders. they had to go over on to no mans land one by one attacking the eni e side exposed. Shell shock ;-A term used to describe PTSD befor there was a proper term . Dugout ;- a cavity in the walls of the trenches that soilders rested in. Lice,Rats and Frogs ;- Pest were a common occorane in trenches! the rats spread diseses and lice added dicomfert and frogs just liked to jump around in water filled craters
