These two verbs are often confused. They are both used in similar ways but have a different structure and meaning.
VERBS
1. Subject + tell + object + full infinitive
2. Subject + tell + object + that clause
TELL
3. Subject + tell + object + about
He told me to stop talking to him, so of course, I did.
Jocelyn said to Mary that the bank wouldn't allow her to borrow so much money.
I told my students about the end of term party, but they all had other things they wanted to do.
I said that I didn't want to go, but she still thought she could persuade me.
I told him that I never wanted to see him again, so I hope he gets the message.
I said "Hello", and he just looked away.
