About Ms. Hobbs!
- University of Mary Washington graduate with a BA in History and M.Ed in Secondary Education.
- My favorite areas of history to learn about are the Renaissance, Reformation, the Civil War, and US civil rights history.
- In my free time, I love to read, spend time with my pets (I have two dogs, one cat, and a fish tank), and go to museums. I am so excited to learn from and get to know you all this year!

Course Description
We will study American culture through a chronological survey of major issues, movements, people, and events in Virginia and United States history. We will investigate and evaluate the fundamental political principles, events, people, and ideas that developed and fostered our American identity and led to our country’s prominence in world affairs.

- Textbook: World History (School Provided)
- Computer/Laptop
- Laptop Charger

- 1.5-inch binder or three prong folder
- Writing utensils (Pens and Highlighter)
- Coloring Utensils

Grading Policy and Scale
- A = 90-100%
- B+ = 87-89%
- B = 80-86%
- C+ = 77-79%
- C + 70-76%
- D+ = 67-69%
- D = 60-66%
- F = 0-59%
- NHI (Not Handed In) = 0%
Assignment Weights
70% Summative: Tests, essays, quizzes, projects and/or oral presentations.
30% Formative: Classwork, homework (synchronous and asynchronous), and daily checks.

Make-Up and Late Work
- Absences must be EXCUSED in order to receive make-up work.
- Make-up and late work will be recorded as an NHI until completed
- All make-up and late work must be submitted by the deadline. After the deadline has passed, I will no longer accept the assignment
- Late work must be submitted by the next class period (two calendar days) unless otherwise stated by teacher
