BRITISH LITERATURE

from 1900 to today(modern)

NOTE: British Lit can include any text written during the height of the British Empire and was originally written in English. For example, any work written in English from India when it was a part of the British Empire is still considered British Literature. Countries and terroritories that still recognize themselves as a part of the British Empire, like Canada and Australia, are considered part of British lit.

The Outsider

H.P. Lovecraft

In this work, a mysterious individual who has been living alone in a castle for as long as he can remember decides to break free in search of human contact and light.

The Alchemist

H.P. Lovecraft

The story follows Antoine, a count who is last in line to die at the age of 32 due to a curse put on his family hundreds of years prior. His ancestor, being responsible for the death, brought about the curse, and Antoine was left to watch all his family, including his manservant, die an early death.
