1. INGESTION
The first activity of the digestive system refers to the entry of food into the alimentary canal through the mouth. The presence of food in the mouth triggers a nervous reflex that causes the salivary glands to deliver a watery fluid called saliva to the mouth.
Next
1. INGESTION
The presence of a digestive enzyme, known as amylase, in saliva allows chemical digestion of starches to begin.

5. elimination
The final step in digestion is the elimination of undigested food content and waste products. The undigested food material enters the colon, where most of the water is reabsorbed. The solid waste is eliminated through the anus using peristaltic movements of the rectum.
