ADVERBS OF MANNER
What is an adverb of manner? An adverb of manner tells us how someone does something. It gives more information about the verb (the action).
🟢 Most adverbs of manner end in -ly. Examples: She speaks slowly. (How does she speak? → Slowly) ❗ Some adverbs don’t end in -ly: He works hard. (Not "hardly" — that means something different!)
ADVERBS OF MANNER: REGULAR AND IRREGULAR
- Regular adverbs are formed by adding "-ly" at the end of the adjective.
- Irregular adverbs are not formed by adding "-ly" to an adjective. They must be memorized.
