Éste ctenóforo es un ser vivo muy parecido a las medusas, pero pertenece a otra familia. En la década de los 80´s fue introducida al mar negro, y al no tener un depredador natural, en poco tiempo se vio afectada la biodiversidad en sus diferentes niveles, entre sus consecuencias más importantes provocó el crecimiento excesivo de algas y la desaparición de peces y delfines.
