Unpacking Standards Creating Learning Goals Creating Success Criteria Implementing Student Centered Practices
Today's Learning Goals:
- Find your Quarter 1 Unpacked Priority Standards and understand how they are broken down.
- Look at the Achievement Target Type for the standard and identify the knowledge and skills tied to the standard.
- Develop Learning Goals for the Standard
- Develop Success Criteria for the Standard
- Brainstorm ways you can use the unpacked standard to drive a student centered culture in your classroom
What to Do:
- Work through the following slides with your gradelevel team.
- Make sure you are asking clarifying questions if necessary.
Unpacking Quarter 1 Standards
Your Quarter 1 Priority Standards have been unpacked for you and are linked to the Curriculum Map. Please choose the next standard you will teach and look through the unpacked standard document for it. Specifically look at how it is broken down to show what students need to know and what they need to do.

Achievement Target Types for Quarter 1 Standards

Your Quarter 1 Priority Standards have been assigned Achievement Target Types. Please look through the Achievement Target Type for it. Specifically look and see if there is any background knowledge you will need to provide for students to understand the standard. Also think about how the students will demonstrate the knunderstanding of the knowledge.

Develop your Learning Goals
Key Things to Consider when writing your Learning Goals: - “What am I learning?” - Clear and focused on the outcome of the learning - Provide a map to the learning destination - Scaffolded to build toward deeper understanding

Make a copy of the unpacked standard you are looking at. On your copy, work with your grade level team to create the learning goals you feel will work best for you students.

Develop your Success Criteria
Key Things to Consider when writing your Success Criteria: - “How will I know I have learned it?” - Describe the evidence students must produce to show they have achieved the learning intention (not the tasks) - Major checkpoints along the way for teacher and students to know how they are progressing

On your copy of the unpacked standard, work with your grade level team to create the success criteria you feel will work best for you students. As you read through the success criteria you have created think about: - In what ways do they offer clarity and guidance for the user? - In what ways do they offer flexibility?

Utilize the table at the bottom of your unpacked standard document to brainstorm how you will utilize your unpacked standard in your classroom with your students.
