Draw and Label is a great activity for all levels of spellers. It is another multi-sensory way for students to demonstrate the meanings of words. It is also a way for emergent and letter name alphabetic spellers to draw a word to represent the sound being focused on. Cut, paste and label is another variation, where students look for examples of words in old newspapers, magazines, and catalogs or they have a worksheet with pictures (like the example below) that they cut out. Then they paste the example into the correct column.
