Social Media Impact on SocietyBy: Itai Kraus

Free but time consuming

Social media apps like facebook connect you to other friends
Social media is supported by various advertisements in the interface

Expanding platform

What was thought to be a simple commuication method now has more influencers who pay to place their content into facebook

Various Social Media Communities

The future of technology is leading toward various so-called metaverses, or computer-generated environments, rather than being dominated by just one social media platform (Chen, 2023)

Specialized Social Media

More individualized social media communities allow for communities to have their voices heard For instance, Letterboxd, an app that film enthusiasts use to share their opinions on their favorite movies

Safety and Privacy

With more technological platforms, there are more ways for cyber criminals to hack and infiltrate people's personal information

Intended demographic

Social media can make people feel in control, but there remains to be a concrete age that is considered safe to start using social media apps which can be addictive

Picture Perfect

Social media users develop eating disorders, trying to mimick perfect body types that they see on famous social media profiles

Freedom or chaos?

While there is a draw to be connected to a community, there is an addicting interface with many of these apps, with a constantly updating feed that has no limitiations to their viewers.
