Off Peak vs On Peak
Throughout the day your community's electrical needs change based on the time and what we're using it for. You can imagine that as we all return home from work and school, watch TV, turn on the lights as it gets dark, and do our laundry, there's a lot more power being used.
Click the icons to discover the differences between on-peak and off-peak power.
During certain hours of the day, fewer people are awake and using power. This is called off-peak power. If you're trying to save money on your electrical bill, you may opt to run your washing machine or dishwasher during off-peak hours.
Think about all the things we use power for during the day: washing clothes, running the dishwasher, turning on the TV, and more. When more people are awake and using power during the day, there is more of a demand on the power grid. This is called on-peak power.
