MATH QUEST: Portal to the past
You are now trapped in a realm of mathematicals wonder. To journey back to our time, we need to solve the math quest in each era to prove our knowledge which we learnt from the mathematcians' portals. Let the quest begin, where mysteries unravel, and the magic of numbers unfolds before us!
MATH QUEST: Portal to the past
ESCAPE ROOM
start
QUEST 1: (Pythagoras)
If the two lengths in a right angled triangle are 5 and 12, what is the length of the hypothenus? Hint: use Pythagoras Theorem to answer this question.
"To embark on this mathematical journey, seek the wisdom of the ancient Greek mathematician who believed that 'all is number'. Look for the symbol of a right-angled triangle."
What is the length of the hypotenuse according to Pythagoras Theorem?
Enter the integer
QUEST 2: (EUCLID)
"Journey to the land of Alexandria and discover the mathematical foundations of our world. Seek the book of 'Elements' and unravel the hidden geometric patterns."
QUEST 3: (Leonardo Fibonacci)
"Unlock the secrets of nature's patterns in the medieval world. Seek the sequence where each number is the sum of the two preceding numbers."
Decrypt the message below and key in the answer.
QUEST 4: (Pierre de Fermat)
"Venture into the realm of number theory and decipher the mysteries left by a mathematical genius. Seek the hidden note in the margin of an old mathematical treatise."
Encode the secret code
Key in without space or capital letter
QUEST 5: (Rene Descartes)
Below is a map from the pirate. Write the ordered pair in coordinate system for the location of the treasure chest.
"Navigate the world of reason and logic, where numbers meet geometry. Seek the Cartesian coordinates and plot your path through this geometric realm."
Write the location of the treasure chest in the form of ordered pair.
For example: (1,2) is location for ship
QUEST 6: (Carl Friedrich Gauss)
"What is the sum of all the integers from 1 to 100?
"Discover the hidden mysteries of prime numbers and unlock the door to numerical secrets. Seek the factors that guide your way."
What is the sum of all integers from 1 to 100?
Give the answer in integer
QUEST 7: (Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz)
"Your journey approaches its thrilling culmination, where the secrets of calculus unfold. Unlock the path ahead by solving a calculus problem that reveals the final puzzle piece guiding you to Leibniz"
Drag and drop the numbers to the right position in Pascal's Triangle.
10
QUEST 8: (Pascal Blaise)
These are the numbers:
"Embark on the final stage of your journey and unravel the secrets of Pascal’s triangle. Solve a Pascal problem to reveal the last piece of the puzzle."
