Past Continuous

The past continuous is used for actions that were happening at a specific time in the past. Like the present continuous, it is formed with the auxiliary verb "to be" and the verb+ing.

Structure of the Past Continuous

The way to construct this verb tense is very easy, and it is enough to follow the following formula_. "Sujeto" + "was/were" + "verb + ing". As we can see, the auxiliary verb is the past tense of the verb "to be". If you look closely and analyze the composition of the "Past Continuous", it is nothing more than a combination of the "past simple" and the "present conitnuous".
