Book Creator Learning Notebook AND COMIC Summary: using cANVAS, BOOK cREATOR, PADLET, and Canva

Audience: 4th-grade students***can be modified for 3rd-6th grade

Time: 30-45 minutes per class session Duration: Two -four weeks (2 class sessions per week = 4 - 6 class sessions)

TEKS & OBJECTIVES

The 4th-grade students will use a digital graphic organizer accessed from their Canvas course to plan their book summary. 4.11(A) Plan a first draft by selecting a genre for a particular topic, purpose, and audience using a range of strategies such as brainstorming, freewriting, and mapping The 4th-grade students will use the WWWWW graphic organizer to draft the contents to explain the story elements of a book. 4.11(B) Develop drafts into a focused, structured, and coherent piece of writing by: (i) organizing with purposeful structure, including an introduction, transitions, and a conclusion (R) (ii) developing an engaging idea with relevant details (R)

The 4th-grade students will use the Book Creator features to edit and revise their digital comic strips and summaries. 4.11(C) Revise drafts to improve sentence structure and word choice by adding, deleting, combining, and rearranging ideas for coherence and clarity (R) The 4th-grade students will use the Book Creator tool to publish their book summaries and create their Library Activity notebooks to share and document their learning. 4.11(E) Publish written work for appropriate audiences
