We use “there was” or “there were” to talk about things we can saw and things that existed in Past tense.
We use “there was” for singular and uncountable nouns. We use “there were” for plural countable nouns.
→There were five people in the office. (Plural countable noun) →There was a television in the living room. (Singular countable noun)
→There were some milk in the fridge. (Uncountable noun)
