Express actions or states that were taking place in the past when anotheer action or state interrupts or reinforces it.Offer context, that is, give information about events or situations at a specific time.

Mention two or more action from the past happened at same time.Examples: I was waalking when I saw an eagle. Last year, I was studying fpr the examens. While my son was playing videogames, I was sleping in his bedroom

It is formed with the verb to be in the past accompanied by the ing.Most verb are normally added ing We the remove the E and add ing to verb that end in E We double the final consonant in shorts words that end in consonant+vowel+consonant When verbs end in Y we always add ing (whether they are preceded by a vowel or a consonant)

To form the affirmative we put the corresponding form of the verb to be accompanied by the gerund. subject+was/were+verb with ing+rest of the sentence They were watching TV. She was teaching yesterdayt
