PLOT
Billy Elliot is an 11 years old boy who lives in the city of Easington with his dad Jackie, his brother Tony (two poor miners) and his grandma. His only friend is Michael. He practises boxe, but he doesn't like it. One day, in the gym, Billy sees a dance class. The teacher, Mrs Wilkinson, suggests him to try dancing. He finds out his passion for dance, so he begins to frequent dance courses without saying it to his father, because he hates this sport.
Jackie discovers it, so he forbids him to practise every sport. But Mrs Wilkinson doesn't give up: she wants that Billy becomes a member of the Royal Ballet School of London. So he trains in secret. But the audition day, Billy doesn't arrive because he has to go with his father to get Tony, arrested by the police. After a few months, Jackie finds out Billy's talent for dance, so he collects some money and brings him to an audition for the Royal Ballet School, in London.
They arrive in London, but it seems that the audition didn't go well, and Billy returns to Easington. But after a few weeks, Billy receives a letter: he's admitted, so he leaves his family and he goes to London to learn how to dance. 14 years later, in 1998, Jackie and Tony go to London to see Billy dancing in a ballet, and Jackie looks at him excited.
MY OPINION
I really liked this film. First, because the plot is very exciting. Also, the actors played their characters very well. In particular I liked that Billy, a kid from a poor family, was able to realize his dream of becoming a dancer. For this reason my favourite scene is the final one, where Billy is finally a dancer after a lot of years of practise, and my favourite character is him. In conclusion, I would absolutely recommend this film because it's really touching and it teaches you that you have to believe in your dreams.
