Tudor Society

Tudor society took the form of a hierarchical system with the King at the top. Those at the top were rich and powerful while those at the bottom were poor and had no power at all.

Gentlemen

Gentlemen, also known as Noblemen, were born rich and came from families with titles - Barons,Earls and Dukes. Most owned large country estates and were often given important positions in goverment.

Citizens

Citizens lived in the towns. They were rich merchants and craftsmen.Merchants made their living by trading goods with owners.Craftsmen were skilled men who could command a good price for the goods that they made.

Yeomen

Yeoman is originally referring to one who owns and cultivates land or to the middle ranks of servants in an English royal or noble household. The first documented was in mid-14th-century England. The 14th century also witnessed the rise of the yeoman longbow archer during the Hundred Years' War, and the yeoman outlaws celebrated in the Robin Hood ballads.

Labourers

A laborer is a person who works in manual labor types, especially in the construction and factory industries. Laborers are in a working class of wage-earners in which their only possession of significant material value is their labor. The 1st century BC engineer Vitruvius writes that a good crew of laborers is just as valuable as any other aspect of construction. Other than the addition of pneumatics, laborer practices have changed little.
