Plot

For Belly summer is the only season that matters. Laurel and Susannah have been best friends since childhood, and now spend summers together with their children Susannah has two teenage sons: Conrad and Jeremiah Belly has had a crush on Conrad The story is narrated by Belly during the summer when she turns sixteen and she has turned into a beautiful young woman Fearing that Conrad will never reciprocate her feelings, Belly tries to ignore her crush on him. So Belly starts dating a boy named Cam. Although the romantic tension between Belly and Conrad grows. Toward the end of the novel, Belly’s attraction to Cam wanes, and after Jeremiah reveals his interest in her, she can no longer deny her crush on Conrad. Belly confronts Conrad and tells him that she loves him.

The books went very viral in social media especially tik tok with fandom, fan page, some cool dances and trends and many hashtags including #teamconrad or #teamjeremiah. Fans also try to find hidden messages in the series and talk about their theories on the social media.

In June 2022, a television series the book series The Summer I Turned Pretty was released on Amazon Prime. The television adaptation however is particularly different from the book, as it is full of scenes and episodes which were not in the book. This was done to make the story more interesting I think, and I really enjoyed it. (since I watched both the series and read the book)The series had a lot of success and it was made the season 2 based on the second book of the trilogy.
