Closing borders, closing humanity
I lost the battle, I won the war
Humans have different colors, not essence
Charles Moore [1954 - 1968]
Nilufer Demir [2015]
Okay I'm about to cry writing this stuff. During 2015 Europe had a bad refugee crisis, people from running away from the war in Syria, among others, leave their countries to find refuge in European countries. The European Union couldn't handle that much people so they closed borders. People still wanting to run away used other methods like the Kurdi family. The two little kids and the mother drowned and Alan's body appeared on the coast of Bodrum. Nilufer Demir took the photo and it spread aroung social media so fast, European goverments where forcer to reopen their frontiers.
This photo was taken by Charles Moore during the Civil Rights movement between 1954 and 1968 in America. A specific high-conflict area was Birmingham, Alabama. Black people were asaulted by white power on basis. The violence was brutal, routine and normal. This photo was published in the Life magazine.
Nan Goldin took this photo of herself in 1984, it shows her severly injured by a lover she had. She weared her bruises with pride because she is still there with her head up. This image showed the severity of women violence. She has severe injuries but she has still make up, she is well dressed up and with an awesome haircup, she won, she spoke and shw sood up.

I'm full, just throw it away
Bosto Herald [1967]
She ain't fast enough, of does she
She old enough to cry, old enough to fight?
The first woman fo officially run the Boston Marathon (1967) by Boston Herald. Kathrine Switzer decided to run the Boston Marathon at the age of 20, in that time it was a all-male race, women were not allowed to run because of their "fragility". Kathrine signed everything with her's initiale to avoid suspision. In the photo we can see Jock Semple, the race manager, trying to rip the number ot Kathrine off, "Get the hell out of my race and give me those numbers". Her boyfriend, Tom, blocked him, letting Kathrine finish the race. Five years later women were given the right to run in the marathon.
Kevin Carter took this photo in 1993 in South Sudan. The controversial image made him win the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Photography. Newspapers all across the globe presented the image. A year later he gave a speech about the image and journalists asked why he did not help the kid. He ended his life 4 months later thanks to the trauma and the weight of hit actions.
Moments before the photo was taken by Chris Hondros, her parents where killed at an American checkpoint. During the Iraq war, her family was on the way home from Tal' Afar in Iraq. American soldiers thought Iraqui rebels where hidden in the car, so they began shooting. These situations were common but not documented. Thanks to this image the US military revised the checkpoints procedures.
