SMARTER GOALS

ABCD Goal Setting

Specific: Be clear and concise about what you are working towards

Audience: What is your prior knowledge/ current level of competence?

Measurable: How is the goal quantifiable? How will you know you have achieved it?

Behaviour: What is the expected and desired change in behaviour?

Achievable: How is your goal challenging but attainable?

Relevant: The goal should align with wider goals and aspirations.

Condition: What are the circumstances that will lead to the desired change/ result?

Timely: What is the deadline for achieving your goal? What are the checkpoints along the way?

Degree: What is and how big is the target change in performance?

Evaluate: Take time to reflect on your progress. What have you learnt? What progress have you made?

Review: What are you going to do moving forward?
