REGULAR VERBS: Positive: Subject + verb + “-ed” + complements: • I played soccer yesterday. • She walked to school this morning. Spelling rules: 1. Add “-ed” to the base form of regular verbs: play → played 2. For verbs ending in “e,” add only “-d”: smile → smiled 3. For one-syllable verbs with one vowel and one consonant after it, double the consonant before adding “-ed”: stop → stopped 4. For verbs ending in “y” after a consonant, change “y” to “i” before adding “-ed”: study → studied
Negative: Subject + "did not" (didn't) + verb + complements - I didn't study for the test. - He didn't watch the movie. Question: "Did" + Subject + verb + complements + ? - Did you finish your homework? - Did they call you yesterday? In negative and question we do not add "ed"
