Choose a text according to your level

The worst thing you can do is get used to reading texts that are below your means. Choose texts that require you and that make you maintain a proactive learning attitude, at a level similar to yours and even a higher point. Your reading comprehension will be rewarded with that book that gives you the right difficulty and that encourages you to incorporate new grammatical structures and new vocabulary into your repertoire. The question is to gradually improve.

Read but also listen

One of the advantages that technology has brought with it is that now you can listen to texts, especially books, at the same time that you are reading them. Do you know that it is possible to download audios? Do it and play them on your walks, bus trips or relaxing moments!

Always carry a lexicon notebook with you

While you read or listen to the audios of the texts you are reading, you should always have a notebook on hand to write down all the new words that you still do not understand. After that, look them up in the dictionary and write down their meaning. Remember: highlighter, notebook, dictionary... and memorize! And if you know phonetics, you can always point aside the sound of the word in question.

Reread aloud

Once you're done with the book chapter or text you're reading, read it out loud again. In this way, at the same time that you activate your Reading level, you also contribute to improving your pronunciation. Two birds with one stone!

Record yourself and listen

In accordance with the previous point, use a recorder (it can be the one from your mobile phone) to listen to yourself reading and be able to evaluate yourself. Try to identify the words in which your pronunciation is wrong and compare it with the good pronunciation of the audios you have. Practice and don't give up!

¡Thank you!
