HIs Response to DouglassCLick Here
+ info
1. Douglass uses language to create an emotional scene. 2. The Master's words are heartless. Douglass begs for help and the master dismisses these events as "stories." 3. Douglass describes the master's response by repeating the word "that" within a list of reasons. This shows the master does not care. It is not even written in actual dialogue because the master was not listening to him.
Master Thomas' Response:
1. Covey is a good man and would never kill Douglass. 2. He wants Douglass to go back to Covey on his own. 3. He already receives money from Covey for 1 year. He will not go back on the agreement. 4. The master says he will personally kill Douglass if he does not listen.
