Policy Challenges

Federal: Medicaid

The end of COVID provisions have significantly cut the amount of people eligible for Medicaid and financial capacity to afford services.

State: Funding

In 2017 the Montana legislature cut $200 million in state and matching federal dollars from the state public health budget.

Local: Public Transport

Geographically spaced out region often resulting in significant commutes to reach services.

Personal Contributions

Actively collecting data, actively applying evidence-based modalities, client transportation, documenting shortages, reporting needs, collaborating with local organizations and agencies, writing policy officials.

Agency Advocacy

Practice evaluations, evidence-based intervention, transportation policies and provisions, mandatory treatment planning conducted weekly, sliding fee scales, correspondence with legislative officials, and offering multiple services in one location.
