QUIZZ

which type of container is the most polluting?

contrary to what we might think, cardboard cups are more polluting. Why? According to an MIT study, the thin layer of plastic that covers the cardboard inside the cup makes it virtually impossible to recycle and very complex to compost.

THE PROBLEM

single use plastic products

half the plastic manufactured in the world becomes waste in less than a year. Once discarded, this means several hundred or even thousands of years of pollution by the time the plastic has completely disintegrated. 2,000 years for disposable plastic plates, trays, cutlery, etc. What's happening beneath the surface is even more worrying: the 300,000 tonnes of plastic waste currently floating on the surface of the oceans represent just 1% of the plastic present in the marine environment.

the 99% sink to the deepest abysses or decompose into micro-particles that are ingested by flora and fauna and gradually find their way to our plates. every year, over two billion food containers are used in the European Union alone. Aluminum or plastic trays, transport boxes... The manufacture of these containers emits the equivalent of 297 million tonnes of CO2 per year in the United States.

PRESENTATION of our impact company : COMPACK™our vision

COMPACK™ is an alternative to single-use containers, using plant fibers such as sugarcane residues (by-products of the sugar industry, rum factories). Thanks to the raw material used, no more waste, everything goes into compost, and even better, everything can go into HOME COMPOST Our ecological and social impact start-up integrates 3 pillars at the heart of its model: Social Impact (inclusive society), Ecological Impact, Value Sharing (1% of our profits paid back to employees in equal shares) Our 5-year vision is to become a brand with a strong identity and the leader of 100% home compostable single-use products, by setting up several factories, having composting platform, composter trucks for large events and becoming an "impact unicorn" by replacing 1 billion plastic products with 100% home compostable products. Our start-up is now powered by the Ile de France region(Paris) incubator called the PERQO since september 2023.

our raw material

Sugar cane wastes (Bagasse)

Thanks to our automated machines, we can thermoform any 100% biodegradable shape that can be disposed of in the household compost bin.

fibers are ground to a pulp, dried and cut into 700mm x 800mm x 1.3 mm sheets for use in food containers

These leaves are kneaded in water, to disintegrate into pulp, with the addition of two anti-fat products and water.

Sugar cane is a grass, a renewable resource since its consumption does not exceed its biological replenishment. It regrows several times a year, thanks to its rapid growth.

Bagasse is the fibrous residue left after sugarcane has been crushed and the sugar extracted. This residue is mainly composed of cellulose (plant fiber). Instead of being incinerated, it is reused to manufacture new products such as biosourced food packaging.

COMPOSTING OUR PRODUCTS

As of January 1, 2024, every french municipality will have to set up a composting system (anti-waste law). To make good compost, you need to add 50% carbonaceous matter such as branches, wood, egg cartons, etc. to ensure good oxygenation. All our products are made exclusively from natural sugarcane waste (bagasse) and are 100% HOME COMPOSTABLE. This means that our products degrade at low temperature and low oxygenation, and like egg cartons, can be disposed of in a simple household compost bin- all certified by TUV Austria and BPI.

CONTAINERS MARKET SIZE

market needs

The conclusions of the Lifecycle Analysis carried out by Foodles and Greenly are clear: "To date, the reusable container has shown its limits in that it only proves to be truly relevant, both in ecological and economic terms, after two years of use by catering customers, before this time the disposable solution remains the most attractive, for over 60% of the impact criteria analyzed".

Projet: COMPOST PLATFORM

Making non-polluting products is good, recycling them is even better, which is why we want to create a composting platform: COMPACK RECYCLAGE™ , following the example of the Moulinot platform, supplied from food waste and green waste in Eastern Paris, as well as our products sold, in order to support Industrialists, Restaurateurs, Hotels, Festivals, Hospitals, Ehpad, Collectivities...in their CSR approach. * get food waste out of incinerators and landfills * recover food waste to create energy and compost * create jobs in a new ecological sector * avoid food waste * reduce greenhouse gases

+info

Projet : event compost trailer

Events, and more particularly large-scale festive and sporting events..., generates a lot of waste, so we decided to take action and offer organizers the chance to come to them with our dump truck and shredding trailer, to reduce their volume of compostable waste (food scraps, non-PP food containers or other glued plastic films, no PLA), which we can then integrate into a composting platform, in partnership with local composting operators.

the team

COMPACKTM is a project run by a small group of friends from different backgrounds and cultures. Our shared passion for ecology led us to get together and work on solutions for the environment.

Sandeep SAINI Sandeep Saini, a dedicated nature lover, has devoted the last 15 years of his life to ecological projects aimed at preserving and restoring the environment. His passion for sustainability and environmental conservation has led him on a remarkable journey across different states of India. In partnership with KALAKUMBH company, Sandeep has actively worked on projects to cleanse rivers, forests, and beaches from the scourge of plastic pollution, contributing significantly to the preservation of these precious natural resources. Sandeep's commitment to finding solutions for the pervasive issue of single-use plastic is unwavering. He has collaborated with GOGREEN, a company in sustainable alternatives, to distribute eco-friendly products made from Areca leaves and even edible materials to various locations. Through these initiatives, he has played a pivotal role in reducing the reliance on harmful single-use plastics in multiple communities. Alexandre and Sandeep have engaged in extensive discussions to explore a global solution for the pervasive issue of single-use plastic. Their collaborative efforts have taken them to the southern regions of India( Kerala, Tamil Nadu) where they visited manufacturing facilities and held meetings with engineers specializing in compostable product production and associated machinery. Through their dedicated endeavors, they have identified highly effective solutions, primarily revolving around products crafted from bagasse. Their ongoing mission is to raise global awareness about these sustainable alternatives, thus contributing significantly to the worldwide reduction of single-use plastic.
