- We use THERE + BE to say if something exists or not.
There is a desk / There isn't a pool.
- We use the plural form of BE when the name is plural.
There are some chairs / There aren't any windows.
- We normally use contractions when we speak or write in an informal style.
There's a big desk in my bedroom / There isn't a sofa and there aren't any chairs.
- We use A or AN with names in singular.
There's a big TV.There's an orange door.
- We use SOME & ANY with names in plural. We use SOME in affirmative sentences and ANY in negative sentences.
There are some paintings.There aren't any tables.
- WARNING!: "There are" does not have a contracted form.
