What is the future continuous tense ?

The future continuous tense is generally used to represent an event or action that is happening at a certain point in time in the future.

will + be + ING FORM OF THE VERB

Interrogative form

Affirmative form

Negative form

Will + sub + be + -ing form Will you be partying with us tonight? Will he be driving his new car ?

Sub + will not be + -ing form They will not be playing. They won't be playing. It will not be working. It won't be working.

Sub + will be + -ing form I will be studying. I'll be studying. She will be babysitting. She'll be babysitting.

Uses

When should we use the future continuous tense ?

  • Don't phone me between 7pm and 9pm. I will be studying for the English exam.

Asumptions

We also can use the future continuous tense to talk about what we assume is happening at the moment.

  • Peter is very quiet. He'll be doing something wrong, I know it!
  • Don't phone grandma now, she'll be doing exercise.

We often use the future continuous with time expressions such as:
