Grading Categories and Weights
A quick review of how to create categories and set weights.

Accessing Grade Book Setup
Most of us only set up grade book weights once a year, so this is a quick review of the steps to create your own categories as well as set the grading weights.
Click on the Grade Book Menu
Grade Book Setup
1- Simplified View

To simplify your view when setting percentages and creating assignments, click on "Grade Book Settings" under that drop down that switches classes.
To add or edit grading categories, click on "Assignment Types" located on the right of the drop down that switches classes.

Add Categories
You may not see any categories after the simplification step. To add a category, click on "+NEW" on the right side of the screen. To edit a category, click "edit" on the left side of the screen.
Adding a Grading Category
Read through the tooltips. When you are done click "Grade Book Setup" to the right of the dropdown to switch classes.
Adding Grading Weights
Read through the tooltips. Click on the green "Update" button when you are done.
Reminders
- It is district policy that all teachers must enter at least two grades per week.
- Ensure every grading category has multiple assignments.
- Exception: Some departments have separate categories for each benchmark, midterm and/or final.

Teacher Type Defaults
- Scroll down to "Teacher Type Defaults" and select "Only Show My Types".
- This will remove default categories so that you will only see the categories you make. It will also simply the view when you create an assignment.
- Look through any of the settings on this page and change what you want. You can always change is back if you want.
