In this activity, you will have to write your autobiography using CANVA by answering the questions on the right. To have a better idea, look at the example provided. Before you write check the Rubric I'm using to evaluate your work.
SPEAKING
LEAVING A MESSAGE
Your friend needs help, and you need to give him/her a message, using regular verbs in the simple past form. Record the sentences imagining that you call your friend. Your classmate asked you to leave a message in the voice mail because they are for the English homework. Use the word(s) of each column to make a sentence. You need to record a total of five sentences. Remember that your sentences have subject + verb (past) + complement. Based on the right pronunciation, emphasize the “ed” ending.
In this case, the past phrases are part of the complement.
SELF-ASSESSMENT
USE OF SIMPLE PAST

As life goes by, we have all changed, don’t you think? You will listen to two friends talking about changes in their lifestyles. Listen to the recording and then answer the questions
So far, we have learned quite a bit about what life used to be in Jamaica from Jay and his Mother Danielle, remember? Now it is your turn to talk about what life used to be in your city 10 years ago!!

THANK YOU!
Writing Activity 3 A review
In this topic, you are working with connectors of sequence. Remember that they are those words which link our ideas so that our stories have coherence, and so people can understand them more accessible. In this exercise, imagine you work for a touristic magazine, and your job is to write a short review of a beautiful place to visit. You have to say that you went to that place and you need to explain everything you did so that people get that you had a good time. Include a picture of the area to make the activity more realistic. Remember to use connectors of sequence and consider this rubric. You also have to include the following information:
- Where did you go?
- Where did you stay?
- How did you travel?
- How long did you stay?
- What did you do as soon as you got there?
- What did you most like about it?
- What did you dislike about the trip?
- Where did you eat?
- What did you eat? How was it?
- How much did you spend on all the trip?
- Connectors: while, when, first, next, finally, At first, later, when, in the end, afterwards.
Your text should be between 250-300 words.
What Are Regular Verbs?
A regular verb is one that forms its simple past tense and its past participle by adding "-ed" or "-d" to the base form of the verb. For example: Remember that the simple past tense describes a completed activity that happened in the past. For example: John cleaned the table.
Anne closed the door.
The past participle is the form that can be used with "have" to form a specific verb tense or as an adjective. For example:
I have cleaned the table already.
The prize is behind the closed door.
LOVE SWEET LOVE
Have you already found your soul mate?
Some people would say in the words of a Mexican singer: “I wasn’t born to love,” or "When you have found your soul mate reality hits you and the pieces begin to fit", said the British singer.
However, that’s what Isabel Allende said: “Love, like fortune, arrives when it is not asked for It confuses us, and fades away like fog when we try to grab it”.
Previously, you studied regular and irregular verbs to talk about the past. In the following activity, you will identify personal information as well as past events of three talented writers.
After that, you will read letters where you will change the verbs to the past. In each section, you will find the appropriate instructions. Once you have read about those writers, read some letters in which you will write verbs in the past. Read what they have written to their lovers.
Speaking Activity 4 A birthday party
In the content presentation, you learned about connectors of sequence. Remember that we used those linking words so that people understand what we say. You need to imagine that you are talking to your group of friends and you remember anecdotes. It’s your turn to speak, and you have decided to talk about a special birthday. Consider the following questions when you record our audio.
- 1. Whose birthday was it?
- 2. What did first do when you got to the party?
- 3. Who went to the party?
- 4. What was funny about it?
- 5. Where was the party?
- 6. When was the party?
- 7. How did you arrive at the party?
- 8. How long did the party last?
- 9. What happened in general?
- 10. When did the party finish?
Don’t forget to use connectors of sequence when talking about your anecdote:
while, when, first, next, finally, At first, later, When, in the end, afterwards.
If you need to look up any word in a dictionary, we suggest you visit the Cambridge Dictionary. You can see the definition and also the pronunciation of any word, in case you need it.

DO YOU LIKE READING?

At the same time, you will recall old memories.
Start by reading the words of Hermann Hesse, a German author. This legend is talking to Demian talking about an extraordinary and unexpected feeling.
Let’s start with some basics about the country.
The official name of the country is Jamaica. The formal government is Parliamentary democracy, and our capital city is Kingston. The official language is English. But, we also have other languages such as Patois that is widely spoken on the island.
Jamaica is a mountainous island in the Caribean Sea. Jamaica is part of the Caribean Islands known as the Greater Antilles with Cuba, and Puerto Rico.
Jamaica is definitely a multicultural country. More than 90 per cent of the population is of African descent. But many other people have come from China, India, Germany, and Syria to find work on the island. Jamaica's motto is "Out of Many, One People." Listen and read the following conversation between two tourists in Jamaica. They are discussing their trip about a previous time they visited Jamaica.
- Kingston sounds like a cool place to visit, isn’t it? The place has changed a lot according to the speakers, what did we learn from the previous conversation between Patrick and Carmen?

This is my autobiography
My name is Stella. I was born in Quito, Ecuador. I am 23 years old and studied elementary public school in a town near Quito. It was a great small school. All the children in the town went there to study. There were not many students, and I had good friends there. When I was 15, I moved to Mexico City and studied in a public high school. It was difficult because I did not know many people, it was very crowded and noisy. It was difficult for me to adapt. I remember people in my group were loud, but now I know that is the Mexican style. They were great with me, and we went to many parties. Then I decided to study art. I remember painting since I was a little girl and everybody loved what I did.
When I was 15 I got my first kiss, it was a goodbye kiss because I was moving to Mexico. German, a boy who studied with me, didn’t want me to return to Ecuador. He was very friendly and kind to me. I liked him very much, but I did not love him. People from Ecuador are friendly and generous. We love our freedom, and in my case, I take love pretty seriously. That is why I think I have never fallen in love.
What Are Irregular Verbs? (with Examples)
- Remember that the simple past tense describes a completed activity that happened in the past.
For example:
- Alan forgot the balloon.
- Sarah froze the fish.
- The past participle is the form that can be used with "have" to form a specific verb tense or as an adjective.
For example:
- Oops, I have forgotten the balloons.
- Buy frozen fish.
An irregular verb is one that does not form its simple past tense or its past participle by adding "-ed" or "-d" to the base form.
Irregular verbs contrast with regular verbs, Let's compare an irregular verb to a regular verb:
Irregular Verbs Are Common
Ironically, the most commonly used verbs in English are all irregular.

The first time you went on a date.
The day when you received something special.
The way you celebrated your last birthday.
The first time you traveled by yourself.

Fame & Love
This time you will listen to Madonna sing a pop ballad written by her and others lyricists. She is considered by many as the “Queen of Pop.” The song deals with her personal life, fame and love. According to the information studied in the content, you will complete the following activity by filling in the blanks while you listen to her sing, Substitute for love.
I’m head over heels!
Based on previous activities, you may have noticed we need to use regular and irregular verbs in the simple past to talk about past events, facts and even feelings.
Now is your turn to describe an old memory in which you will use regular and irregular verbs in the past.
Some say that love moves the world. Do you remember your first boyfriend or girlfriend? Do you remember your first kiss?
An irregular verb can be either a weak verb (when its past forms end "-d" or "-t") or a strong verb.
