CurriculumMap
Utilizes a backwards design approach

Home

Divided into multiple sections focused on central ideas, currciulum, materials and lessons (Lynch, 2022).

Pacing Guide

Lesson Plan

Using pacing guides supports students by allowing them to learn in a natural progression by planning units and topics in a sequential order. Pacing guides ensure that content is covered in a timely manner so that students will have learned the standards and skills needed for the next grade level and state testing (Lynch, 2022). Pacing guides benefit teachers by providing and prioritizing movement through the curriculum. They help teachers stay on track and move to fast or slow through the material (Lynch, 2022).

Lesson plans help student learning because teachers are able to create lessons that are engaging to students based on their needs and interests. When students are engaged, they are more likely to learn the content. Students are able to access the content when teachers plan their modifications and differentiation (Stauffer, 2019). Lesson planning ensures that teachers are prepared to teach the content which makes teaching go smoohter and allows student to access it (Stauffer, 2019).

Using curriculum maps allows for teaching to be planned in a sequenced manner. Students are able to build on previous knowledge, transition smoothly from one grade level to the next, and guide students to higher-level thinking (Tunnell, 2022) Curriculum mapping supports teachers by encouraging collaboration, encourages enhancing curriculum, helps to avoid academic gaps in learning, and uses steady and incremental best practices in teaching (Tunnell, 2022).
