  • Tony Hu is Program Director and Senior Lecturer of the Riccio Graduate Engineering Leadership Program (GradEL) which helps develop MIT grad students into technical leaders.
  • Prior to GradEL, Tony led MIT's Integrated Design & Management Master's Program which combines human-centered design with engineering and business.
  • As an entrepreneurial leader with 25 years of experience as head of product design and development at small companies and large corporations, he has brought more than 200 consumer products to market globally, including electronics, appliances, toys, and sporting goods. As an inventor, he’s licensed 22 products and been awarded 18 patents.
  • He earned his BS in electrical engineering at MIT, conducting research at the Media Lab, and his MS in product design from Stanford.

Mr. Tony Hu

  • John E. Fernández is a professor of building technology in the Department of Architecture and a practicing architect.
  • He founded and directs the MIT Urban Metabolism Group, which focuses on the resource intensity of cities and future urbanization.
  • He is the director of the environmental solutions initiative
  • Fernández is an author of two books and numerous articles in scientific and design journals.
  • He holds the position of Chair of Sustainable Urban Systems for the International Society of Industrial Ecology and serves as an Associate Editor of the journal Sustainable Cities and Society.
  • Fernández is involved in various boards and committees, both at MIT and external organizations.
  • He has been a designer for over 2.5 million square feet of new construction, working in multiple locations. Fernández has led the design and construction of major buildings in various cities in the United States and around the world. He has also been involved in the launch of two startup companies in recent years.

  • He holds an MBA from Wharton and a Computer Science degree from Yale. Mark has diverse experience, including roles as CIO at USCIS, CIO at Intrax Cultural Exchange, CEO at Auctiva Corporation, and Board Member at DigitalTown.
