We need 4 groups: Let's count together from 1 to 4.
Choose a leader and a secretary.
Each group will be assigned a text to read.

"Urban tribes are groups with common interests and preferences. The members of these micro groups have similar worldviews, dress styles and behavioral patterns. They listen to the same music, they share the same ideology, and they talk in the same way."

Floggers: a colourful style

Hello! I’m David. I’m a flogger. The name ‘flogger’ comes from ‘Fotolog’ – a website where we share our photos and comments. Everyone there has a love of fashion. Floggers wear fun, colourful clothes. For example, we often wear brightly coloured jeans or trousers, fluorescent T-shirts and colourful trainers. We love music. We like dancing to electro house and listening to techno music. I love being a flogger. We have lots of fans who follow our styles. It’s very popular with teenagers because everyone enjoys taking photos of themselves! It’s a great urban tribe.

Hi, my name is Jim.I am a skater. Skaters have a simple style. We prefer wearing light shorts, skinny denim jeans, T-shirts, dark trainers or skate shoes. We love skating in parks and on the streets, but skate parks are the best places for us. They have ramps and obstacles, and it’s safer than skating on the streets. The most exciting part is when we jump in the air and do tricks. Skaters are an urban tribe, but we are more interested in having fun together. Looking good or competing with other groups isn’t important to us. We love skateboarding and that’s why we do it.

Nerds (nerd: socially inept)

PUNKS 0r wrongdoers

Punks wear mostly black, red or white clothes. Their style is essentially composed by spiky hair, jeans or bondage trousers, leather jackets with slogans, pins, and patches on them, T-shirts, studs, and chains. They often listen to punk/emo/heavy or metal music. Punk music is iften described as harder, louder, and cruder than other rock music.They don’t care what other people think of them.They are characterized to behave rudely, aggressively, or violently. Punk is more than just music; it has a deep philosophy, based on anarchist political views and liberation. Punk rockers, for example want to protest and rebel against norms and rules of society.

They are members of the “digital culture”. They love computers and communicate on the internet with other members of their community. They’ve got all the software and they are very competitive. They use special language when they communicate with their friends on the net. When it comes to looking like a nerd, consider wearing tight, high-water pants that limit your movement. Be sure to pull on a pair of long, thick white, and accessorize your pants with a long belt or clip-on suspenders. Male nerds can wear short-sleeved Oxford shirts, while girl can wear sport sweater vests with a plaid shirt. Bowling shoes or Black sneakers are a must for nerd style.
