What are pets?

Which animal can we keep as a pet?

Pets

Pets are wonderful companions. They come in different shapes and sizes. Some people have dogs as pets. Dogs are loyal and love to play.

Pets

Cats are another popular choice. They are independent and enjoy cuddling. Fish make great pets too. They swim gracefully in their tanks.

Pets

Birds can be entertaining with their chirping and colorful feathers. Hamsters are small and cute, and they love to run on their wheels. Turtles are calm and slow-moving creatures.

Training

You can train some pets to listen to you and do tricks! Wild animals cannot be trained, this is why it is dangerous to have them as pets!

Interrogatives

An interrogative is a type of sentence or word used to ask a question or seek information. Sam is a dog.

Change to a Question

Is Sam a dog?

Interrogatives

I am late. Max can help you. She is sleeping. They will feed the dog later.
Am I late?
Can Max help you?
Is she sleeping?
Will you feed the dog later?

Guess the pet!

You will take it in turns to think of a pet in your mind without revealing it. Everyone else will take turns asking interrogative questions to guess the pet (e.g., "Does it have fur?" or "Is it a small pet?"). You can only respond with "Yes" or "No" until someone guesses the correct pet.

Reading Bailey and Daisy

Let's Go

There was a girl named Bailey who loved animals. She had a pet parakeet named Daisy. Daisy had beautiful colorful feathers and loved to sing all day. Bailey spent hours talking to Daisy, and Daisy would chirp back, as if they were having a conversation.

One sunny afternoon, Bailey decided to take Daisy to the park to play. As they walked through the park, they saw other pets, like dogs and cats, playing with their owners.

Bailey's friend, Maya, had a playful dog named Max. Max wagged his tail happily when he saw Daisy. Maya was training Max in the park and teaching him to "sit" and stay". Bailey went home and decided that she wanted to train Daisy!

Talk about the story.
