Why is innovation important in the cement industry for mitigating climate change?

It is essential for protecting the environment

It’s not, but environmental policies force the industry to be innovative.

10

It means that emissions will rise

It is important, but it solves nothing

GO BACK

Climate change is real and it’s a result of our actions and decisions! We must take steps to reduce the impact we're having on the planet.

CONTINUE

Climate change is due to greenhouse gas emissions, which we generate throughout the day. We must work together to try and not make as much greenhouse gases!

Chlorofluoride-carbons CFC

Methane CH4

Ozone O3

Water vapor H2O

Nitrogen oxides NOx

Carbon dioxide CO2

CONTINUE

Extreme meteorological phenomena, such as floods, draughts, heatwaves, cold spells, are becoming increasingly more common year after year due to the negative effects of climate change. It has a negative effect on our lives, animals, and plants.

CONTINUE

When fossil fuels are burnt, such as carbon, petroleum or gases, greenhouse gases are emitted. Greenhouse gases as the main cause of climate change. The main aim of Goal 13 of the SDGs is to take urgent action against climate change and its effects.

CONTINUE

Meat and dairy products generate greenhouse gases. They mainly produce methane. You don’t have to cut meat and dairy out of your diet completely, but we do want to see more greens on your plate!

CONTINUE

The fridge accounts for almost a third of a household’s energy consumption. Only open it when you need to get something out and don’t put hot things in the fridge! Also, follow some of this advice to help reduce your household’s energy consumption: - Washing machine: Use short cycle programs, low or moderate temperatures and only use with a full load. - Television: Don’t leave it on standby. - Oven: Don’t open it when you’re using it. By opening the oven when it’s on, you’ll waste 20% of the energy being used.

CONTINUE

Consuming locally produced products helps to reduce emissions and helps the local economy. It also gives a helping hand to your neighbours. Do you need more reasons?

CONTINUE

The transition towards a net zero emissions economy is fair and inclusive. The steps taken to limit the effects of climate change involve making progress on all the SDGs, including equality, protecting the planet, and ensuring prosperity. They all form part of the sustainable development agenda.

CONTINUE

Using biomass as a fuel does not contribute to climate change, since the carbon emissions from its combustion have been absorbed from the atmosphere beforehand, so it is considered neutral.

CONTINUE

For a couple years now, the cement sector has been working on innovative solutions to reduce its harmful impact and develop new products for the construction industry to mitigate the damaging effects of climate change. These are directly related to Goals 9 and 13.It is a sector that is continually evolving!
