A person is very good at seeing beneath the surface of something. An astute remark shows a deep understanding of the subject being remarked on.

A person says things that are mildly offensive, like telling elderly people how old they look.

A person always forgets where they have put things, and, as a consequence, is always losing them.

A person is always looking at themselves in the mirror, concerned that they look their best at every opportunity.

A person says things which are funny and intelligent at the same time.

A person refuses to change their mind or admit that they are wrong.

A person is happy to give someone a bed for the night, or cook for them.

A person is incapable of looking further than their own experience or opinions. They are not open to new ideas and generally don't like change.

A person doesn't take the credit for something good they have done; rather they deflect it to someone else.

An person is stubborn and refuses to admit that they are ever wrong.

A person looks down on other people, perhaps because of their race, their colour, their religion or their social class.

An person likes to do things in a big way. An extravagant person will spend lots of money on a birthday present or will do something very out of the ordinary to say thank you. Being extravagant can be negative or positive.

A person likes things to be done a certain way and will change the smallest thing so that it is right for them. Being fussy is seen as a negative characteristic.

A person will never walk under a ladder, go out on Friday 13th and bases their activities on what their star sign says.

A person is truthful and honest, and will quite openly tell you his or her secrets. We say they are like an open book.

A person will do anything, good or bad, legal or illegal, to get what they want. They say that to be successful in business, you have to be ruthless.

A person applies themselves to a job very seriously and doesn't stop until it is finished; nor do they cut corners, but do the job to the best of their abilities.

A person always knocks things over or drops them.

A person never gets too excited about things. They remain realistic whatever the circumstances are.

We use adjectives to describe a person's character, the way they are. Character is different from mood, because your mood changes from day to day, but your character is permanent.
